Roma, 30 marzo 2025 – Mentre la terra continua a tremare (l’ultima scossa di 5.1 alle 9.30), in Myanmar è corsa contro il tempo per soccorrere i sopravvissuti. Ieri a Mandalay una donna è stata estratta viva dalle macerie di un condominio a 30 ore dal terremoto di 7.7 che ha devastato il Paese. Ma non ci si aspettano molti miracoli a fronte delle centinaia di dispersi. Il conto ufficiale dei morti è di 1.700 (3.400 i feriti); le previsioni sono però di migliaia di vittime.

L'ala armata dell'opposizione ha comunicato che si impegnerà a mantenere un cessate il fuoco di 2 settimane per consentire il passaggio degli aiuti verso le aree colpite dal terremoto. Ma per ora è un atto unilaterale. La giunta militare continua a bombardare. L’ex Birmania non c’è più, sepolta sotto le macerie del sisma più forte mai registrato almeno in 100 anni. Ponti, infrastrutture, moschee, pagode, palazzi sono crollati sotto l’onda d’urto del terremoto che per violenza è stato 300 volte più forte di quello di Amatrice e 44mila volte più violento dell’ultimo sisma di 4.6 registrato ai Campi Flegrei (la scala Richter che misura la magnitudo è infatti una scala logaritmica: i numeri si impennano).
