The initial collaboration between EL AL and TAROM began approximately three years ago during the COVID-19 period and has since strengthened. It now reaches its peak with this new agreement, offering customers of both airlines the opportunity to fly on flights operated under a shared code. This agreement was signed in the presence of Romania’s Ambassador to Israel, Radu Ioanid, at EL AL’s headquarters in Ben Gurion Airport, highlighting the commitment of both airlines to provide safe and efficient flight services and contribute to the development of economic and tourism ties between Romania and Israel.
The collaboration with TAROM joins 22 other codeshare and cooperation agreements that EL AL has established in recent years with leading international airlines, including Delta Air Lines (joint flights and mutual benefits for program members), Air France and KLM (joint flights and program agreements), Azerbaijan Airlines (joint flights), and Virgin Atlantic (joint code on the Tel Aviv-London route and program agreement). EL AL continues to expand its route network from Tel Aviv through partnerships, alongside increasing flight schedules to popular destinations.
EL AL CEO Dina Ben Tal Ganancia commented: “The new agreement with TAROM is another significant step in implementing our strategy to expand the outbound network from Tel Aviv. As part of EL AL’s strategic plan for the coming years, we continue to partner with leading airlines worldwide to increase our flight offerings and expand our destination map. Thanks to this collaboration, our customers will benefit from greater accessibility and an enhanced experience on their way to Bucharest and beyond.”
TAROM CEO Costin Iordache said: “This partnership agreement will take effect in April 2025 and will offer passengers from Romania and Israel additional options, thanks to the combined network of TAROM and EL AL flights. Passengers of both airlines will enjoy joint flights operating 18 times a week on the Bucharest-Tel Aviv route, as well as access to a variety of domestic and international destinations through the shared code. This agreement is a first step in expanding the commercial cooperation between the two airlines, and we plan to extend it to additional destinations in the future”.
