Every day that goes by I see that it was the best decision I could have made. ‘I’m enjoying the city, the club and everything. It reminds me a lot of Brazil because of the sun, the food, the people are also very happy. All of that is important for someone like me who is used to it.’ Meanwhile, Betis say they are ‘more optimistic’ about the prospect of Antony remaining with them. “When we spoke about the possibility to bring Antony in January, I saw it more distant than I see now him staying,’ Betis chief executive Ramon Alarcon said last month. ‘It’s because both Manchester United and the player have seen that Real Betis is a great place for the player to develop. ‘Right now I’m more optimistic than in January.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page. Arsenal have been linked with a surprise move for Manchester United winger Antony.

Antony has already indicated that he would be keen to remain in Spain, claiming that his life on and off the pitch has improved since leaving United.

‘I found myself, I needed to find myself and be happy,’ Antony said.

‘I needed my family to be happy too. Every day that goes by I see that it was the best decision I could have made.

‘I’m enjoying the city, the club and everything. It reminds me a lot of Brazil because of the sun, the food, the people are also very happy. All of that is important for someone like me who is used to it.’

Meanwhile, Betis say they are ‘more optimistic’ about the prospect of Antony remaining with them.
