Amazon Prime Video has cancelled its Kevin Bacon-led half-hour action horror series “The Bondsman” after just one season.
The entire eight-episode first season run debuted on the service on April 3rd. No viewership information for the show was released by Amazon, though the title did make the Nielsen streaming Top 10 list in its first week of release.
The show followed Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter, who’s back from the dead after being resurrected by the Devil to trap and send back demons that have escaped from the prison of Hell.
By chasing down those demons, with the help and hindrance of his estranged family, Hub learns how his own sins got his soul condemned – which pushes him to seek a second chance at life, love, and country music.
Based on an original idea from series creator Grainger David, Erik Oleson (“Carnival Row”) served as showrunner on eight episodes produced by Blumhouse Television.
Jennifer Nettles, Damon Herriman, Beth Grant, Maxwell Jenkins and Jolene Purdy co-starred in the series which scored good notices from critics.
