XDefiant boss laments Call of Duty’s focus on making money over good game design
XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin says developers like Activision are too focused on making the most money, instead of designing a good game that players naturally gravitate towards. Rubin says games like Call of Duty, which they've previously worked on, strategically keep hold of players by focusing on engagement tactics over quality material. Ubisoft’s failed multiplayer FPS was positioned as a rival to CoD, but after struggling to gain popularity, it was taken off stores by the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry maker late last year.
