The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is expected to receive a PS5 / PS5 Pro update that may help alleviate performance issues. A patch was rolled out on Xbox consoles last Friday, and although Bethesda didn’t say what it entails, Digital Foundry claims it made “significant improvements” to Oblivion’s Xbox versions.
Oblivion PS5/PS5 Pro performance improvement update expected soon
As excited as players were to get their hands on Oblivion Remastered, they were left disappointed by what many called “terrible” issues, like frame rate drops and stutters. Console performance — particularly on PS5 Pro — is apparently the worst.
According to Bethesda, last Friday’s hotfix was for “a few backend tweaks and nothing directly impacting gameplay.” However, tech experts at Digital Foundry noted visible improvements “to the game’s somewhat dodgy performance issues” following the patch.
At the time of this writing, the update has not rolled out for PS5, but we’re expecting it sometime this week, at the earliest. In the meantime, PlayStation players will have to make do with unoptimized performance.
Alternatively, we recommend players switch to a fantastic new RPG that dropped last week, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Made by a small team, Sandfall Interactive’s debut game has taken both critics and players by surprise, earning universal praise.
