Here’s how Kofi’s Fire is described:
KOFI’S FIRE is intended to help students, teachers, and the interested public engage with a forgotten story in the history of Northern enslavement. This interactive graphic novel is inspired by the true story of a revolt involving enslaved people and indentured servants in 1741 New York City. While KOFI’S FIRE is based on historical research it uses fictional elements to tell a fuller story of Black life in colonial New York, which was excluded from documents written at the time. This narrative includes acts of violence and intimidation. For more specific information see the content advisory.
