Watch ‘The Bear’ star Matty Matheson & Wade MacNeil’s (Alexisonfire) hardcore band Pig Pen play their first show
Matty Matheson revisits his hardcore roots in a new band that also features Daniel Romano and more.
Last month, The Bear actor/producer and celebrity chef Matty Matheson announced the existence of his new hardcore band, Pig Pen, which finds him joined by some old friends from the Ontario post-hardcore scene like, including Alexisonfire‘s Wade MacNeil, Attack In Black‘s Daniel and Ian Romano (the former of whom is also now a successful country singer), and Tommy Major (who’s also in Daniel Romano’s band Outfit, Young Guv’s live band, and more). They played their first-ever show at Sneaky Dee’s in Toronto on Friday (4/25), without releasing any music beforehand, and now video has surfaced from the show so everyone can get a taste of Pig Pen.
“We’re Pig Pen. We’ve never played before. You’ve never even heard us,” Matty said at the start of the show. “So what the fuck is up, Toronto? You wanna get nuts? Let’s fucking get nuts!” They then launched into their set, and the whole thing looked and sounded pretty rowdy–looks like it would’ve been a blast even if some of the people on stage weren’t already very famous.
