Tom Hardy has admitted that his body is “falling to bits now” after years of on-set injuries.
The actor opened up about his bodily troubles in a new interview, revealing that he has had multiple surgeries over the years and “it’s not going to get better”.
“I’ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back, I’ve got sciatica as well,” he told Esquire. “And I have that… is it plantar fasciitis?
“Where did that come from? And why? Why?! And I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It’s like, it’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”
The actor went on to explain that he would be open to the idea of doing “all the stem cells” to help himself, adding: “I think if it comes down to the wire and it seems the sensible thing to do and I take advice.”
In other news, Hardy recently revealed that a crossover film featuring his character Venom and Spider-Man was once “close” to happening.
The star played the Marvel character for three films, sharing on The Discourse Podcast that his children were disappointed to never see a crossover after his swansong in last year’s The Last Dance.
When pressed about what happened, he said: “I don’t know how to answer that question.”
“We got close,” Hardy elaborated. “We got as close as I could possibly imagine getting, apart from doing a film together, which I would have loved to have done because that just means so much fun.”
Speaking further on what he would like to see in a potential crossover, he added: “Fundamentally, for me, it would be for the kids.
“Because, you know, as much as adults love superhero films, as you can tell by the box office when they’re successful, I think I’m constantly reminded by children how important these characters are. And they don’t know why their favourite characters aren’t in films together.”
Hardy most-recently appeared in gangster series MobLand alongside Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, which NME awarded three stars in our review.
