The new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has offered fans a glimpse as to what to expect from one of the most anticipated movies of the summer.

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach star in the title role of the first Fantastic Four film to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The clip opens with a talk show host (Mark Gatiss) introducing the team and setting up the world, a retro-futuristic alternate universe where the group are the only known superheroes.

“We all know the story” he begins. “Four brave astronauts go up into space, and come back forever changed. He then talks about how they are their world’s protectors, with a montage of people saying “Thank you Fantastic Four”.

We then cut to a dinner scene where the family are gathered round, and it emerges that Sue Storm (Kirby) and Reed Richards (Pascal) are expecting a baby. Their joy is interrupted by the arrival of The Silver Surfer (Julia Garner), who announces that “Your planet is now marked for death” at the hands of Galactus (Ralph Ineson).

There then follows a montage of action scenes and the family preparing to defend their world together. There are extended looks at The Silver Surfer, as well as the team’s comic-accurate costumes. There is also the first glimpse of Richards using his stretching abilities, before ending with a shot of Galactus’ feet stomping through a city.

The film hits cinemas on July 25, and will be the first film in phase six of the MCU, with Avengers: Doomday coming in May 2026. The characters will be part of that crossover, which stars Robert Downey Jr as Dr Doom, the traditional villain of the team.

Recently Quinn spoke about how his version of his character will be different to previous Fantastic Four films, as he is not a “womanising, devil may care guy”.
