talkSPORT betting tips – Best racing bets and expert advice for Day two at the Cheltenham Festival
There’s another high quality day of jumps action in store on Wednesday afternoon and it could be another big day for Willie Mullins with some short-priced favourites. The Grade 1s include the Brown Advisory, The Queen Mother Champion Chase, Turners Novice Hurdle and the Champion Bumper. We have our best bets with analysis for three of the races on Wednesday’s card including a pick who can outrun his double figure price. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £20 in free bets* Cheltenham Festival Day Two Tips 1.20 Cheltenham – Kel Histoire 2.00 Cheltenham – Ballyburn 2.40 Cheltenham – Al Gasparo 1.20 Cheltenham – Kel Histoire. Wednesday’s action kicks off with a cracking renewal of the Turners and bookmakers have this down as a bit of a British vs Ireland match race between The New Lion and Final Demand. However, they haven’t got that much in hand of the rest of the field and the race has a nice each-way shape to it. One that appeals at a double figure price is Kel Histoire. This French bumper winner gave the impression that he was still learning on the job when landing a maiden hurdle at Cork on his debut for Willie Mullins in December and he left the same impression when chasing home Salvator Mundi in graded company subsequently. There’s a big chance that this new trip will help him with his jumping, which needs improvement, but the dam’s side of his pedigree also suggests this stamina test will suit and he’s already proven himself on this sort of ground having won on yielding ground in Ireland. There’s no doubt he needs a step forward, but Mullins’ novices can improve at a rate of knots and this one appears to have been underestimated in the market. 2.00 Cheltenham – Ballyburn Ballyburn seems to get better the further he goes and while he still has to prove he has the stamina for this new trip, there’s every chance he’ll actually improve for it. He took the scalp of Croke Park (previous Grade 1 winner) at the Dublin Racing Festival last month, doing all of his best work in the finish and his pedigree also suggests that this is going to be his distance going forward. His jumping has also been improving with every start and his only defeat this season came at the hands of Sir Gino over an insufficient trip; there’s no shame in that defeat. 2.40 Cheltenham – Al Gasparo This looks like a warm race, but at double figure odds Al Gasparo appeals plenty. He’s going to appreciate conditions to a greater extent than many of his rivals and he was last seen winning a competitive valuable handicap from the front at Leopardstown on similar ground. There’s no doubt that he’ll be needing more to defy his new handicap mark, but he’s not fully exposed at this sort of trip and his yard, who are no strangers to Festival success, are enjoying a cracking season. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £20 in free bets* *all odds correct at time of writing and subject to change 18+ New customers only.
