The Toronto Maple Leafs could get a steady presence back on the blue line for a pivotal matchup.

Defenceman Chris Tanev has been ruled a game-time decision against the Florida Panthers by head coach Craig Berube.

Tanev was a full participant in the Leafs morning skate with defenceman Phillippe Myers getting in some extra work at the end of practice, suggesting he could be coming out of the lineup.

The 35-year-old defenceman has been sidelined since Feb. 25 after suffering an upper-body injury against the Boston Bruins when he took a hit from centreman John Beecher. He was reportedly seen leaving the arena in a sling.

Berube told reporters on Wednesday that Tanev was improving every day and getting close to returning.

Tanev has been a key piece along Toronto’s blue line this season, tallying two goals and 15 assists across 57 games for the Maple Leafs.
