Spider-Man: Brand New Day And X-Men Reboot Rumors | Barside Buzz

Part 1 of today’s Marvel Barside Buzz rumors surround Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the X-Men Reboot. The information is all from yesterdays The Hot Mic podcast with John Rocha and Jeff Sneider. Let’s start with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

According to Rocha, who admittedly doesn’t have as good  sources as Sneider, Sadie Sink is playing Mayday Parker. Specifically he says she will be the daughter of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man. 

Sneider added that he thinks the main villain of Brand New Day will be Mister Negative. Also that he’s heard there will be a secondary villain in the film, played by Sarah Snook. The pair also speculated on Steven Yeun playing Mister Negative, but didn’t claim that.

As for the X-Men Reboot, we’ve heard a lot recently. For one that Marvel want’s Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier to helm the film. However, it does appear like the casting process for the lead roles is underway. 

Sneider says he’s heard that the film is being built around the characters of Professor X, Cyclops and Jean Grey, and this those are the key roles to cast for the rest to fall into place. The insider likened this to the decision to go with Vanessa Kirby signalling a quickening of the Fantastic Four casting process. 

Sneider says he no longer thinks Harris Dickinson will play Cyclops, something I assume he had heard previously. They did talk about rumors of Denzel Washington playing Magneto and Sneider revealed that Colman Domingo is in contention for the role of Professor X. 

However, I do think we are still in the earlier stages of casting for this film right now. I’d imagine that signing up the director will be step 1. Then casting for the three leads and the rest will start falling into place after that.
