With “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” to shoot this Summer, “Avengers: Doomsday” currently shooting, and an “X-Men” film heading towards production likely next year, the casting rumor mill for these projects has been churning the past few days.
First up, regarding “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” The Hot Mic is reporting that they’ve heard that Sadie Sink’s role in the film is Mayday Parker, the daughter of Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker incarnation.
Scooper Jeff Sneider also indicated in that same broadcast that “Succession” actress Sarah Snook is being eyed for the secondary villain in the film behind Martin Li/Mr. Negative as the primary one.
Marvel Updates says “Into the Badlands” star Daniel Wu is rumored to be the front-runner to play Mr. Negative while MyTimeToShineH claims Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds only has a cameo in the film and also indicated Steven Yeun is “interested” in a role in the movie.
DanielRPK indicates the new film will be a globe-trotting one like “Spider-Man: Far From Home” was, with production to shoot in multiple global locations.
Finally, The Cosmic Circus is claiming the film has a “dark, mysterious female character” with a “Japanese-inspired look” reminiscent of a cyberpunk version of Sengoku/Edo period Japan. The character also carries a katana with her.
Things have been no less busy on the X-Men front with casting rumors galore, all of which sound much more dubious. Sneider on The Hot Mic has arguably the most likely ones – he’s hearing Colman Domingo as Professor X and Daisy Edgar-Jones as Jean Grey.
Less likely “X-Men” casting rumors this week have included “The White Lotus” breakout Patrick Schwarzenegger as Cyclops, Jesse Plemons for Beast, Julia Butters for Kitty Pride, and Trinity Bliss for Jubilee, along with some really wild candidate for Magneto.
Meanwhile set video from “Avengers: Doomsday” have suggested an X-Men connection, namely what appears to be part of a downed comic-book accurate Sentinel.
