Pile announce new album ‘Sunshine and Balance Beams’ & tour with NNAMDÏ

Boston DIY rock lifers Pile have announced Sunshine and Balance Beams, their ninth album and first for Chicago label Sooper Records, following a stint as what I believe was Exploding In Sound Records’ longest-running band. It comes out on August 15 and is up for pre-order now. The album was engineered by Miranda Serra, mixed by Seth Manchester (Model/Actriz, The Hotelier, etc), and mastered by Matt Colton, and Pile leader Rick Maguire gives this quote about the LP: “The fulfillment I receive from pursuing art has been a guiding force for me. But it can be damaging when that pursuit subscribes to material expectations of where you might be able to go, and then doesn’t square with the reality that follows.”

Pile’s off-kilter yet hard-hitting indie rock sounds as great as ever on lead single “Born At Night,” which comes with a video directed by Josh Echevarria and starring Shahjehan Khan (of Hulu’s Deli Boys). Check it out below.

Pile have also announced a lengthy North American tour with Sooper co-founder NNAMDÏ, which kicks off on August 21 in Portland, Maine and wraps up in Pile’s Boston hometown on October 11. NYC gets a stop on October 9 at Sony Hall. All dates are listed below. Tickets go on sale Friday (5/16).
