The trades have confirmed that a bizarre piece of film promotional art posted on the Instagram account of actor Armie Hammer is, as expected, fake.
Earlier today, the “Call Me By Your Name” and “Death on the Nile” actor posted what seemed to be a one-sheet for a project titled “Persona Non Grata” with Hammer’s face on it.
The credit on the poster indicated the film was targeting a Fall 2026 release and was to be allegedly directed by Josh and Benny Safdie (“Uncut Gems,” “Good Time”).
Trouble is, it’s not real. Variety has confirmed with reps for the Safdies that the project does not exist.
Hammer returned to acting in 2024 and landed roles in the western “Frontier Crucible” and in Uwe Boll’s “Citizen Vigilante”. Both of those productions have now been shot.
He explained in an episode of the podcast Your Mom’s House that his acting career had picked up enough he was turning jobs down.
