But I think he can still do a job at an established Premier League club. ‘Couldn’t he do a job at Man United? How many goals has [Rasmus] Hojlund got? ‘You can’t tell me he still can’t do a job in the Premier League. As a free transfer, I think he’s a great signing to add to your squad.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The Gunners look set for a third successive second-place finish and could yet lift the Champions League trophy, but Arteta wants a couple of new additions to finally end the club’s wait for a league title.

Arsenal are expected to sign a new striker and midfielder this summer and Jamie O’Hara has recommended a move for Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne has established himself as a Manchester City and Premier League legend over the past decade, winning six league titles and a host of other trophies.

Arsenal urged to sign Kevin De Bruyne

The Belgian confirmed last month that he was to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer and O’Hara says Mikel Arteta should make contact to discuss a move to north London.

‘Every team in the Premier League would take Kevin De Bruyne,’ O’Hara told Sky Sports.

‘If he’s genuinely going to leave Man City, Mikel Arteta – who knows him – should get straight on the phone and get him to come to Arsenal to help win the league.

‘It might be a schoolboy error for Man City to let him go. He could help Arsenal win the Premier League and be a massive player for that football club.

Man Utd told to consider Jamie Vardy transfer

O’Hara, meanwhile, has claimed departing Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy could ‘do a job’ at Manchester United.

Like De Bruyne, Vardy is searching for a new club ahead of the summer transfer window after confirming he would be leaving the King Power Stadium.

Vardy has scored 199 goals in 498 appearances for the Foxes in well over a decade at the club and was a key part of their extraordinary title triumph in 2016.

The ex-England striker has attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs but is keen to stay in the English top-flight.

‘I’d have him at Tottenham as a back-up striker behind Dominic Solanke,’ O’Hara said of Vardy. ‘I genuinely would.

‘He can come off the bench and make a difference. He’s 38 but he’s not slowing down and he doesn’t look unfit.

‘He’s still got his pace and knows where the back of the net is, he’s got eight league goals this season in a very poor Leicester side.
