The Winnipeg Jets goaltender was announced as a finalist for the Hart Trophy on Thursday morning. Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl and Tampa Bay Lightning leading scorer Nikita Kucherov were also named finalists.
Only eight goaltenders have ever won the trophy awarded annually “to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team.” The last one to win was Carey Price in 2015.
Hellebuyck followed up last year’s Vezina Trophy-winning season with an even better performance in 2024-25. He became just the fifth goalie to win 47 times as the Jets claimed the Presidents’ Trophy, and he led the NHL with eight shutouts while posting a .925 save percentage.
