With the Senators in the midst of their first-round playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and having won the last two games to avoid elimination, Henderson had some complimentary words for the team.

“It’s so exciting to see the Ottawa Senators come back and put up such a great fight,” Henderson said in a video posted to X by the LPGA. “And, you know, to see them win two games in a row is super awesome, and I’m definitely gonna be cheering them on (Thursday) night.”

Asked how she plans to watch Game 6 as play opens at the Black Desert Championship in Utah on Thursday, Henderson said she “might have to record it.”

“I feel like I’ll still be playing while they’re playing, but it’s just been so exciting to watch,” she added. “They’re such a great team, and they have so much talent and so much heart and so much fight in them, and it’s definitely really inspiring.”

Henderson, 27, is from Smiths Falls, Ont., which is 78 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.

She signed a multi-year partnership with the franchise back in September. During tournaments, she dons Senators branding on her golf towels and water bottles, and she and her sister, Brittany, who serves as her caddie, wear Sens colours one day per tournament.

“It’s such a cool opportunity,” Henderson said when the partnership was announced. “Growing up, I played hockey, I loved hockey, and I always cheered for the Senators, so it feels like a perfect fit.”

In January, she performed the ceremonial puck drop at a game at Canadian Tire Centre.
