Jared Gordon, Denise Gomes get huge knockouts in UFC Fight Night prelims
Jared Gordon sent a message to the lightweight division with a highlight first-round knockout victory in a featured preliminary bout at UFC Fight Night: Burns vs. Morales.

Jared Gordon sent a message to the rest of the lightweight division as the veteran got back in the win column with a highlight first-round knockout victory Saturday in a featured preliminary bout at UFC Fight Night: Burns vs. Morales.
Gordon put Thiago Moisés to sleep with a perfect counter-right hand in the opening round of their 155-pound contest, rebounding from a controversial loss in his previous outing.
The 36-year-old from Queens, N.Y., was on the wrong end of a split decision against Nasrat Haqparast 11 months ago and also lost a dubious decision to Paddy Pimblett in 2022.
Gordon made sure the judges weren’t needed at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas in his first appearance in 2025.
Although he has not strung together consecutive wins since 2021, Gordon called for a ranked lightweight opponent for his next matchup.
In other lightweight action, Gabriel Green made good on his 155-pound debut with a comeback win over UFC newcomer Matheus Camilo.
Green was controlled in the opening round then was caught in a tight triangle-armbar in the second before he managed to escape, reverse position and quickly lock up a rear-naked choke that forced a tap.
Earlier on the action-packed prelims, Denise Gomes was a roughly six-to-one favourite according to the betting odds and it showed in her second-round knockout of Elise Reed.
Gomes cracked Reed with several hard right elbows early in the opening round that left Reed’s left eye swollen.
After riding out the majority of Round 1 in top position on the canvas, Gomes ended things early in Round two by landing an overhand right on Reed, whose left hand was hanging low.

Reed fell to 4-5 at the UFC level, with all five losses being by stoppage. She has alternated wins and losses throughout her entire nine-fight UFC career that began in 2021.
Gomes is now just one knockout win behind former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade, a teammate who was in Gomes’s corner, for the most knockout wins in the 115-pound division. Gomes has three and Andrade holds the record with four.
Luana Santos made some history by picking up the first Americana/keylock submission win in women’s UFC history. The 25-year-old from Brazil tapped out her 34-year-old compatriot, Tainara Lisboa, in the final seconds of Round 2.
It was the ninth Americana submission in UFC history overall and the first since Alexander Romanov finished Chase Sherman in a 2022 heavyweight matchup, according to official UFC stats.

Park Hyun Sung improved to 10-0 as a pro with an impressive first-round submission win over fellow flyweight Carlos Hernandez. The 29-year-old from South Korea has finished all but one of his opponents during his pro MMA career.
Tecia Pennington (née Torres) moved into sole possession of second place on the UFC’s all-time wins list for the strawweight division thanks to a unanimous decision win over Luana Pinheiro in the opening bout of the prelims, the only preliminary bout that went the distance.
Pennington is the wife of former women’s bantamweight champ Raquel Pennington, who was cheering on from cageside with their daughter. Pennington, 35, edged out Pinheiro, 31, in two of the three rounds for 29-28 scorecards across the board with zero deviation in how each judge saw the bout. Pinheiro has now lost four consecutive fights in the UFC.
