How Bullying Develops Long-Term Mental Health Problems

Bullying faced by children at a young age has a deleterious impact on their mental health later on, but a plethora of parents fail to understand this. They think that their child is strong enough to handle these kinds of small things and should not be affected by this. However, hearing nasty comments, verbal taunts, and facing teasing actually impacts the mental health of the children to a great extent, and this effect lasts for a long time. The situation can become so worse that you may need to consult a psychiatrist in India to bring your child out of that pathetic situation.
Bullying can be in any form. Talking about bullying at the physical level can be hitting someone intentionally or kicking them to humiliate them. Spitting on someone, which is totally unethical, is also part of physical bullying. Yelling, teasing or harassing an individual is verbal bullying. Not only this, people tend to behave inappropriately with someone, spread rumours about someone, or gossip. All these activities have a negative impact on a person's health.
How bullying develops long-term mental health problems:
Depression and anxiety: Children who are constantly exposed to bullying at a young age tend to develop a fear in their minds that they may face such a situation again in the future. They start to feel disappointed in their life and keep on thinking about those incidents only. Owing to all this, they feel depressed, and this depression ruins their whole life. It is not easy to lead a life when one is suffering from depression.
Post-traumatic stress disorder: Children can also suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder in their later life if they have faced a lot of bullying. Nightmares and flashbacks are common during this. To overcome this issue, consulting a psychiatrist in India is highly important. The person stops interacting much with others and does not even share one’s emotions and feelings with anyone. The person starts to get too angry or irritated, even when it is small things. This affects the life of a person extremely.
Not able to forge relationships: Bullying affects a person to such an extent that the person is not able to forge relationships further. This habit affects their lives as they are not able to find true friends or any other loyal person in their lives. Imagine not having any person in your life with whom you can share everything, whether it be your sorrow, your sad moments, your happiness or everything. You will feel isolated and disappointed in your life.
Low self-esteem: If you face body shaming or are being bullied on any ground, you are always realising that you are inferior to others in terms of financial background, looks or any other aspect. These develop insecurities, and you tend to feel like you are worthless or useless. This decreases the self-esteem of a person.
If the level of bullying is extreme, then a person can even face the problem of epilepsy. Therefore, bullying should be stopped as it affects children in an immensely negative way, and sometimes, people have to take epilepsy treatment in India as the condition of the person becomes so worse.
Conclusion: Bullying is really a curse that destroys the lives of individuals. People suffer from a lot of things if they face such treatment in their lives. Depression, low self-esteem and post-traumatic stress disorder are the problems one faces. Therefore, in order to save oneself from such issues, bullying should be banned totally. Even people have to take epilepsy treatment in India due to bullying.
