George Pickens traded to Cowboys with Steelers getting multiple NFL Draft picks
Photo by Jane Gershovich/Getty Images According to multiple reports, the Cowboys are completing a trade with the Steelers for George Pickens During the NFL League Meetings earlier this offseason, Stephen Jones indicated that the Dallas Cowboys were looking to add a number two wide receiver across from CeeDee Lamb. That led many to believe that the Cowboys would add a receiver with their pick in the first round, perhaps Matthew Golden from Texas or even Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan. Instead, Dallas went in a different direction, drafting guard Tyler Booker with their pick at No. 12. Now we might know why. According to multiple reports, the Cowboys are finalizing a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for wide receiver George Pickens. As stated by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the trade is expected to be finalized today: ESPN sources: Dallas and Pittsburgh are working to finalize a trade that will send wide receiver George Pickens to the Cowboys in exchange for draft pick compensation. The Steelers added DK Metcalf during the offseason via a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, and then signed the receiver to a five-year contract extension worth up to $150 million. The team also signed Robert Woods via waivers. As for Pickens, he was drafted in the second round by the Steelers in 2022, and he caught 59 passes for 900 yards, and three touchdowns last season. Pickens tallied at least 50 receptions, 800 yards, and three touchdowns during each of his seasons in Pittsburgh, but with the receiver entering a contract year there were questions about his long-term status with the Steelers. Now it seems he will have a new home. As for Lamb, the Cowboys WR seemed excited about the news on social media: pic.twitter.com/tY4rTzhIsw— CeeDee Lamb (@_CeeDeeThree) May 7, 2025
