Scissor Sisters have played their first gig in 13 years at Brighton’s Concorde 2 – check out their full setlist and highlights below.
The New York pop band announced their reunion arena tour in October last year to celebrate 20 years of their self-titled debut album, which was the UK’s best-selling LP of 2004. Jake Shears, bassist Babydaddy and guitarist Del Marquis are all joining for the tour; the group’s second vocalist, Ana Matronic, will not be joining the tour due to her podcasting commitments.
Now, the group have played their first intimate warm up show in Brighton last night (May 7). At the show, Scissor Sisters played hits such as ‘Take Your Mama’, ‘Laura’ and ‘Filthy/Gorgeous’ from the record, alongside classics like ‘Let’s Have A Kiki’ and ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin”.
They also performed a number of tracks for the first time since 2005, including deep cuts ‘Better Luck’, ‘Lovers In The Backseat’ and ‘It Can’t Come Quickly Enough’.
The band also played their cover of Tiga’s ‘You Gonna Want Me’ for the first time, and sang their version of Pink Floyd‘s ‘Comfortably Numb’, which appears on their self-titled debut.

So far, Scissor Sisters have been joined by the likes of Elton John to Gossip‘s Beth Ditto and the late Pete Burns on stage.
“Oh, there are loads of people that I think it would be really fun to come out and sing with us – this tour is a party for everybody,” Shears told NME.
“Obviously we really want to have the right people on stage,” Babydaddy continued. “But we have the opportunity there, and as we get the show together, I’m sure there’s gonna be some fun surprises.”
