Why Is National Burger Day Celebrated?
National Burger Day honors the most iconic sandwich in the United States. Its popularity began to rise on a national scale during the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, when the New York Tribune described it as “the innovation of a street vendor.” Since then, the burger has become one of the most representative foods of American cuisine.
Where Was the Burger Invented?
Some believe the hamburger originated in Hamburg, Germany, and was invented by Otto Kuase. However, other accounts claim it was created in the United States in 1900 by Danish immigrant Louis Lassen. Regardless of its exact origin, the burger has become one of the most beloved foods around the world.
