Hampus Ericsson set the overall pace in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America practice at Sebring International Raceway on Wednesday for Wayne Taylor Racing.

Hampus, the younger brother of 2022 Indianapolis 500 winner and former Formula 1 driver Marcus Ericsson, set his benchmark 2:00.796 second lap time in this morning’s session in the No. 1 WTR Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 that he shares with Danny Formal.

The Swedish driver’s best time led Pro-Am class stablemate Brendon Leitch, who finished the day 0.477 seconds off the pace with his best effort from Practice 1.

Nick Persing made it a WTR 1-2-3 at the top of the times, setting the third quickest time overall and second-best Pro class time.

Will Bamber was fourth fastest overall for TR3 Racing with World Speed’s Scott Huffaker rounding out the overall top-five.

Tadas Karlinskas, meanwhile, set the second-best Pro-Am time in his No. 33 Rearden Racing Lamborghini, just over a second off of Leitch’s time.

Glenn McGee went quickest in Am with his best lap from Practice 1, while Forty7 Motorsports’ Mark Brummond paced LB Cup with his best effort from the morning session.

Practice 1 saw a pair of red flags for separate incidents.

The first of which was a trip off-track for David Hodge’s solo-driven Alliance Racing Lamborghini, while the second red came out for a heavy collision with the Turn 17 barriers for Kaizen Autosport’s Wyatt Foster, resulting in significant damage to the front of his No. 44 Lamborghini.

Second practice ran entirely green, despite two on-track incidents between various competitors.

Conrad Geis was issued a drive-through penalty after being found to be at fault for an incident with another car at the beginning of Practice 2, shortly after being handed the same penalty for speeding in the pit lane.

Later in the session, TR3’s Michael Johnson was also handed a drive-through after tangling with Adrian Kunzle’s No. 42 MLT Motorsports machine.

Sam Shi had a tumultuous pair of practice sessions, suffering a puncture in Practice 1, followed by a pair of off-track excursions in the afternoon session.

Qualifying for both of the weekend’s races gets underway at 10:55 a.m. EST on Thursday, ahead of Race 1 later that afternoon.
