If you’ve spent any time at all doomscrolling videos on social media recently, and we know you have, you’ve probably seen footage of that guy smashing his Subaru into a car dealership’s showroom. While it might seem like a very rare occurrence, we already have another incident to talk about, also involving a Subaru.

The first guy’s meltdown happened in December 2024, when he drove an Outback through the front glass at a Utah car dealer when they denied his return request. This past weekend, another person drove their Outback through the showroom wall at a SoCal CarMax dealership.
KTLA reported that the man was at the store for an appraisal but was unhappy with the offer, however CarMax reached out to TTAC to say that employees at the store observed his behavior suddenly becoming erratic, unrelated to his trade-in appraisal offer.

The driver is undoubtedly facing several charges related to ramming the building, but several people were injured in the incident. KTLA reported that eight injuries were recorded, with two critical injuries. Unlike the first dealer-smashing driver, this guy drove around inside the store for a while before driving out the other side.
I’ll avoid giving a lecture on the best ways to get top-dollar selling used cars, but I will point out that expecting CarMax’s offer to be anywhere near that of a private seller is lunacy. Unfortunately for the people inside the dealership, the driver didn’t bother figuring that out before going on a rampage.
