Belfield Tunnel opens for direct access to Merdeka 118 – Park Hyatt opening in Q2 2025, 118 Mall in Q2 2026

We’re now used to the majestic sight of Merdeka 118 in the KL skyline, but most in the Klang Valley are yet to visit the world’s second-tallest tower. That might change soon, as Malaysia’s only Park Hyatt hotel and the 118 Mall are set to open in Q2 2025 and Q2 2026 respectively.

When the day comes, access will be easy, thanks to the opening of the Belfield Tunnel. Spanning just over one km, it’s Malaysia’s second two-storey tunnel, designed exclusively for vehicles traveling to and from Merdeka 118. It provides an alternative entry and exit point, improving traffic flow and reducing congestion in the city centre, says PNB Merdeka Ventures (PMV).

“We are pleased to open the Belfield Tunnel, a vital link that will make visiting Merdeka 118 and its surrounding landmarks, including Stadium Merdeka, more convenient than ever. Our goal is to provide a seamless and stress-free journey into the city, ensuring easier access for everyone,” said Datuk Tengku Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud, CEO of PMV.

“With ample parking for up to 8,000 cars, we look forward to welcoming people from all walks of life, from business professionals to shoppers and tourists to experience all that Merdeka 118 has to offer once we are fully open,” he added.

The Belfield Tunnel can be accessed via two entry points – Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Damansara – leading vehicles directly into basement car park level four of Merdeka 118. Vehicles exit from basement car park five into Jalan Syed Putra or Jalan Istana. PMV says that this will reduce traffic build-up in the area surrounding the mega structure, including Jalan Hang Jebat, Jalan Hang Tuah and Jalan Maharajalela.
