Small In Size & Big On Features, This Compact & Portable Home Is Perfect For Off-Grid Living

Measuring just 6.6 meters (21.7 feet) in length, this off-grid capable tiny house compensates for its limited space with exceptional portability. Ideal for up to two individuals, it serves as an excellent towable vacation home or a minimalist living solution for life on the road. Designed by Romania’s Dwellii, this Tiny House On Wheels (THOW) is built on a double-axle trailer, featuring a green sheet metal exterior and weighing 3,500 kg (7,716 lb). To provide some perspective on its size, the Tellico is more than twice its length. Although it is slightly longer than Baluchon’s Cardabelle, its single-story design gives it a more compact appearance.

Designer: Dwellii

The Tiny House on Wheels (THOW) offers a functional and thoughtfully designed living space spanning 13.5 square meters (145 square feet). Inside, the house is elegantly finished with birch plywood, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The walls, ceiling, and floor are well-insulated with rock wool, ensuring comfort throughout the year. The interior is bathed in natural light, thanks to the generous glazing, which includes charming porthole windows that add a nautical touch to the design.

Upon entering, you are welcomed into the cozy living room. This inviting space features a comfortable sofa equipped with integrated storage, perfect for maximizing space in a small home. Adjacent to the sofa, you’ll find several wardrobes providing ample storage. The living room also accommodates a couple of small seats. For those who enjoy a cozy ambiance, there is an option to install a wood-burning stove, adding both warmth and character to the space.

Moving into the kitchen, you’ll notice its compact yet efficient layout. The kitchen is equipped with essential features, including a sink, cabinetry for storage, and a two-burner cooktop suitable for preparing meals. Although the current setup is modest, there is potential for customization and upgrades, allowing homeowners to incorporate additional appliances according to their needs and preferences.

The bathroom in the Tiny House on Wheels (THOW) is conveniently situated adjacent to the kitchen area, providing an efficient use of space within this compact home. Despite its small size, the bathroom is well-appointed with essential amenities to ensure comfort and convenience. It features a modern shower, a sink, and a flushing toilet, making it fully functional. The bathroom also includes a little storage space.

On the opposite side of the tiny house, you will find the bedroom, offering a peaceful retreat from the rest of the living space. Accessed through a sliding door, this private area is designed for comfort and practicality. The centerpiece of the bedroom is a raised double bed, which not only provides a comfortable place to sleep but also incorporates integrated storage underneath. This clever design maximizes the use of space, allowing for easy storage of clothes, linens, or other personal items. The bedroom also features some shelving, ideal for keeping books, decorative items, or personal treasures.

One of the key features of the sleeping space is its high ceiling. This thoughtful design element ensures that residents can move comfortably without the risk of bumping their heads, even when getting up in the middle of the night. The elevated ceiling contributes to an open and airy feel, enhancing the overall sense of space and relaxation within the tiny house. The THOW is currently priced at US$53.500, and it can be outfitted with an off-the-grid setup, which contains an incinerating toilet, water tanks, solar panels, batteries, and a rainwater collection system – although this will increase the cost of the home.
