Zeekr 7X debuts in Thailand – Model Y rival; up to 646 PS, 615 km WLTP EV range; Malaysian launch in Q3

The Zeekr 7X has been presented at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) ahead of an expected launch this year. The electric SUV, which went on sale in China last September, is also due to go on sale in Malaysia in Q3 2025.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, the 7X competes against other electric vehicles (EVs) like the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. The Zeekr electric vehicle (EV) occupies a larger footprint and has a longer wheelbase compared to the Tesla, but is slightly smaller than the BYD.

In its home market, the 7X is offered with either a 75-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) ‘Golden Brick’ or 100-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ‘Qilin’ battery. Both are paired with a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW) and 440 Nm of torque.

The LFP battery provides a range of 605 km following China’s CLTC standard (480 km WLTP), while the NMC option offers 780 km (615 km WLTP). The 7X can also be had with all-wheel drive that uses the NMC battery and adds a front electric motor for a total system output of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and 710 Nm as well as 705 km of range (543 km WLTP). Air suspension is also standard for the AWD variant and available as an option for the rest.

In terms of charging, the 7X can get from a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) in 10.5 minutes via DC fast charging. This is for the LFP-equipped model, while the NMC-equipped options require 15 minutes. The 7X also has external power supplies that can deliver up to 60 kW DC or 3.3 kW AC. All this is made possible by the 7X’s PMA2+ platform that features an 800V electrical architecture.

Available equipment for the 7X include 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, dual Qi wireless chargers, a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats (front and rear).

The 7X retails is priced from 229,900 yuan (about RM140k) to 269,900 yuan (RM165k) in China, which makes it more costly than the Sealion 7. However, the Zeekr is meant to occupy a more premium segment and is cheaper than the Model Y sold there.
