On May 2, 2025 at Comicon Naples 2025, Yuji Horii appeared at a Dragon Quest panel alongside Basiscape composer Gabriele “Richter” Negro. According to multiple attendees who posted on social media sites like Reddit, such as Kaguya Shinomiya who shared a video and The Fishy One who shared an initial account, he allegedly mentioned a Chrono Trigger remake. Square Enix hasn’t confirmed any new take on the SNES game yet. Once it came up, the panelists seem to have realized what was said. As Kaguya-Shinomiya noted later, the one translator then tried to play it off and say that slip didn’t happen.
