Dan Ticktum topped a Formula E session for the first time as he led the opening practice for the Monaco E-Prix.
The Cupra Kiro driver was one of three Porsche-powered cars in the top four, with his best lap of 1m 27.511s a mere 0.004s ahead of factory driver and reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein in the 30 minute session – down from the usual 40 minutes for today.
Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries was third quickest for Mahindra, a further 0.041s back, with Jake Dennis fourth in the Porsche-powered Andretti. Edoardo Mortara completed the top five in the second Mahindra, ahead of Antonio Felix da Costa in the other TAG Heuer Porsche entry with the Nissans of Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato seventh and eighth respectively.
Jake Hughes – who had the highest lap count of anyone with 16 – and Maximilian Guenther rounded out the top-10 in their Stellantis-powered cars, driving for Maserati MSG Racing and DS Penske respectively, with Guenther’s teammate Jean-Eric Vergne next up.
Robin Frijns was the highest-placed Jaguar Runner, ending the session 12th for the customer Envision Racing team. He and his teammate Sebastien Buemi were split by the NEOM McLaren of Taylor Barnard in 13th.
Lucas di Grassi went 15th quickest for Lola Yamaha Abt, with David Beckmann 16th, Mitch Evans 17th and Nico Mueller 18th.
Sam Bird, Stoffel Vandoorne, Zane Maloney, and Nick Cassidy completed the field. Maloney and Cassidy were the only drivers to not complete a single lap with the full power output of 350kW.
