Why Did ‘The Accountant 2’ Get a Theatrical Release While ‘Another Simple Favor’ Isn’t?
The Accountant 2 is seeing a theatrical release while Another Simple Favor isn't, with the former making more money despite worse reviews.
The summer movie season hasn't even properly started, and we already have two sequels to popular smaller movies from pre-COVID times, both reuniting big stars with their original directors. The Ben Affleckaction-thriller, The Accountant 2, was released nationwide over the weekend with Affleck reprising the role of neurodivergent accountant Christian Wolff, whose skills go far beyond just preparing tax returns. One thing noticeably missing from the sequel is Anna Kendrick—although she will soon be seen in her own sequel, Another Simple Favor; once again pairing her with Blake Lively and director Paul Feig(Bridesmaids).
