Back in the day, one of the biggest tropes about Survivor circled around the gross food that castaways would be forced to scoff down. As the show began to gain notoriety, the "gross food eating" challenge almost became synonymous with the infamous exit line, "The tribe has spoken." Though the tenets of the game being outplay, outsmart, outlast, for a long period of time, throwing in "outeat" was apropos. For many castaways, this challenge was their limit. Almost meant to test their breaking points, the food-eating challenge, originally called "Buggin' Out" during the show's first season, became a staple of the show. Until it wasn't.
