When The Avengers came out in 2012, it was the first big "wow we have a cinematic universe" moment that'd been slowly building since the massive success that was 2008's Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. As the franchise slowly built with movies like Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor, longtime Marvel fans knew it would eventually build up to the formation of the team known as The Avengers.
