Watts Is Jackie O In “American Love Story”

Naomi Watts will play Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Grace Gummer will play her only daughter Caroline Bouvier Kennedy in FX’s “American Love Story,” the first season of Ryan Murphy‘s latest anthology drama following “American Horror Story,” “American Crime Story,” “American Sports Story” and “American Horror Stories”.

The spin-off aims to tell sweeping true love stories that captured the world’s attention. This first season will center around the famous love story of American royalty John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Jeanne Bessette-Kennedy.

It covers the entire run from their whirlwind courtship and marriage, to the way the relationship began to fray under the stress of the relentless microscope and navel-gaze of tabloid media.

Pressures of their careers and rumored family discord ended with their tragic deaths when his private plane crashed into the ocean one night off the coast of Massachusetts.

Sarah Pidgeon has already been cast as Carolyn, no word as yet who will play John. Murphy, Brad Simpson, Nina Jacobson, D.V. DiVencentis and Connor Hines executive produce.

Watts previously worked with Murphy on “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” and Gummer with him on “American Horror Story,” both actresses appear in his upcoming Hulu legal drama “All’s Fair”.
