Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has been spotted testing a Ferrari 296 GT3 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where the third round of the NLS season is taking place this weekend.
The Dutchman, who launched his own GT3 operation in cooperation with 2 Seas Motorsport this year, ws spotted at the Nürburgring in an Emil Frey Racing-operated Ferrari.
Verstappen is driving at the test under a pseudonym, with the name ‘Franz Hermann’ displayed on the car alongside the Dutch flag.
Sportscar365 understands that Chris Lulham, a protege of the Verstappen dot com Racing stable, is also present for the test.
Lulham made his GT3 debut at the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup opener at Paul Ricard in the No. 33 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo and races for Emil Frey in Sprint Cup alongside Thierry Vermeulen.
Vermeulen, notably, is the son of Verstappen manager Raymond Vermeulen.
Verstappen has tested a range of GT3 cars in the past and has previously expressed interest in competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Emil Frey Racing is not entered into this weekend’s four-hour Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy, with the Prancing Horse represented by Realize Kondo Racing with Rinaldi, while Verstappen wouldn’t be eligible to compete in SP9 due to the lack of a Nordschleife A-Permit.
