The Cure are sending audio fragments from the upcoming remix album ‘Mixes Of A Lost World’ to record stores around the world – find out more below.
Robert Smith and co. are due to release the ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ remix album, dubbed ‘Mixes Of A Lost World’, on June 13 via Fiction/Polydor, and all of the recording royalties from The Cure will be donated to War Child UK. Visit here to pre-order and here to find out more about the charity.
In the lead-up to the remix album’s release, The Cure are now previewing bits of the record at indie record stores across the globe via vinyl acetate. The band have also asked fans to tag their local record stores for a chance to receive a fragment.

On their website, The Cure wrote that the fragments – printed onto vinyl acetate – are designed to “decay more and more with each play”. You can submit your local record store for consideration to receive a fragment here.
The remix album has so far been previewed by Four Tet’s remix of the single ‘Alone’ and a “cold, dystopic” remix of ‘Warsong’ by Deftones’ Chino Moreno and is also set to include Paul Oakenfold, Mura Masa, frequent touring friends Mogwai, past collaborators 65DaysOfStatic and more.
Chino Moreno’s remix sees him returning the favour after he put his own spin on ‘Teenager’ for the ‘White Pony’ remix album ‘Black Stallion‘ and leant vocals to ††† (Crosses)’ ‘Girls Float + Boys Cry‘).
‘Mixes Of A Lost World’ will be available as triple LP/cd/cassette deluxe editions featuring both the ‘Artists’ & ‘Remixers’ tracks. The three LP set includes three half speed mastered 180g heavyweight black bio vinyl LPs, a tri-gatefold printed sleeve, and a large foldout poster; the triple deluxe CD has an eight-panel digi-sleeve and includes a foldout poster; the limited edition three cassette set has individually printed o-cards and obi-strip and is exclusive to The Cure store.
The double LP/CD/cassette edition features the ‘Remixers’ tracks only and comes as a black vinyl double LP with a gatefold sleeve; a double CD in six-panel digisleeve includes foldout CD poster; the limited edition double cassette has individually printed o-cards and obi-strip is also exclusive to The Cure store.
The remix edition comes after The Cure recently released the live version of ‘Songs A Lost World’ with ‘Songs Of A Live World Troxy London MMXXIV’ – capturing the band performing the record in full at London’s Troxy last year before a set of greatest hits and fan favourites.
The band famously released the classic remix albums ‘Mixed Up’ and Torn Down’ in 1990, before a re-release in 2018.
As for more new material from The Cure, Smith previously confirmed that a “companion piece” album to ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ is “ready to go”, and may be shared before a yet-to-be-announced 2025 world tour. He also added that the band are still working on more material, and is currently underway with another record of “completely random stuff”.
In a five-star review of ‘Songs Of A Lost World‘ – which went on to be named one of our Best Albums Of 2024 – NME wrote: “Merciless? Yes, but there’s always enough heart in the darkness and opulence in the sound to hold you and place these songs alongside The Cure’s finest. The frontman suggested that another two records may be arriving at some point, but ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ feels sufficient enough for the wait we’ve endured, just for being arguably the most personal album of Smith’s career. Mortality may loom, but there’s colour in the black and flowers on the grave.”
