While Abrams, 25, has had several hits of her own due to the boost in her Swift-adjacent popularity, she recognizes her level of fame is nothing like what the 14-time Grammy winner has to deal with on a daily basis.
“It’s like, I really don’t have it that bad in terms of invasion of privacy, you know what I mean?” the “I Love You, I’m Sorry” singer told Billboard in a recent profile, noting that for Swift, the level of public scrutiny is taken to an intense level.
“I feel like I learned a lot from her, obviously,” Abrams said of Swift, “but one of the things that I’ve felt lucky to observe is how extreme it can be [for her]. It helps right-size my own s–t.”
Abrams isn’t the only star who has talked about their friendship with the “Anti-Hero” singer as of late. Serena Williams recently revealed why she opted not to ask the pop icon for an autograph for her daughter at the Super Bowl. (Swift, of course, was on hand to watch boyfriend Travis Kelce play, while Williams took the stage during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show.
Per Time, the tennis champion “wanted to respect Swift’s space” while the Kansas City Chiefs were getting taken down by the Philadelphia Eagles, who ultimately won the championship.
“It’s hard when your team is losing,” Williams said. “I totally get it.”
