Paramount+ has renewed its Billy Bob Thornton-led, West Texas-set oil drama series “Landman” for a second season.
The latest work co-created and executive produced by “Yellowstone” creator and industry unto himself Taylor Sheridan, the series wrapped a highly successful first season two months ago.
Based on the podcast “Boomtown,” Thornton plays a fixer who keeps things running and acts as an intermediary between the field workers and the money men in the oil industry.
“Landman” ended up ranking among the top 10 original streaming series during the fourth quarter of last year and continued a strong run into January. Over the span of eleven weeks, the series racked up almost 9.7 billion minutes of viewing in Nielsen’s top 10 streaming rankings.
It was also one of three Sheridan shows on Paramount+ that made the Top 10 – the other two being “Lioness” and “Tulsa King”. It also pushed the service overall to be the second most watched SVOD service in the U.S. for original hours of programming in Q4 2024.
Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, Colm Feore and Jon Hamm co-star in the series.
