The US has put a pause on Trump-era tariffs for now, but Samsung isn’t waiting around to see what happens next. The company is ramping up Galaxy S25 production in May, and fast. According to a new report, Samsung will manufacture 800,000 more units this month alone, on top of the 16.2 million Galaxy devices already planned.

If the tariffs snap back into place, importing Galaxy phones from South Korea could get a lot more expensive. So, Samsung’s goal is clear—get as many Galaxy S25 devices onto US soil as possible before that window slams shut.

Samsung’s production math shows what it values most. Out of the 3.3 million Galaxy S25 units being made this month, nearly half—1.5 million—are the Ultra model. The vanilla S25 follows at 1.3 million, and the Plus model trails far behind with just 500,000.

If you’re wondering why the Plus is being sidelined, you’re not alone. It’s been the least-loved model in recent years, and this production strategy seems to confirm Samsung knows it.

Samsung’s production ramp is temporary. Reports say the company will scale back output in June as it waits to see what the US does next on tariffs. But the message is clear: Samsung isn’t betting on diplomacy.

If tariffs do return, Samsung will at least have warehouses stocked and ready. But if the pause gets extended? It’ll probably just slow things back down. Until then, Samsung’s playing it safe—and fast.
