Ryan Giggs wants 10 new Man Utd signings but names two that ‘excite’ him this summer
Giggs believes the situation at United has become 'a joke'.

Ryan Giggs believes Manchester United need to sign ‘nine or 10’ new players – with bringing in Liam Delap and Matheus Cunha this summer an ‘exciting’ start.
While they can still salvage some silverware in the Europa League final against Tottenham next week, United have endured a disastrous 2024-25 campaign, breaking more records in mediocrity.
Ruben Amorim’s side are hopelessly marooned in 16th place in the Premier League with defeat to West Ham their ninth at home this season – equalling their worst ever record from the 1930-31 season where they were relegated.
Only Everton and the three relegated clubs have scored less than United in the Premier League this season with signing a new centre forward a top priority.
Delap, available for £30million following Ipswich’s relegation, has emerged as the club’s top target with talks already underway to sign Cunha from Wolves.

Given United’s problems have been in the Premier League this term, club legend Giggs believes it makes sense looking within the league to strengthen this summer and believes Delap and Cunha will instantly lift the dressing room.
Speaking to the Webby & O’Neill show, Giggs said of the pair: ‘It would be an improvement, most definitely.
‘They both have Premier League experience which is a massive plus. The domestic form has been nowhere good enough so they are proven already to do it, to score goals.
‘When you’re in that dressing room preseason and better players come in, it not only gives the fans a lift but it gives the players lift.
‘So if you see those players (Delap and Cunha) come in you are going to get excited because it’s an improvement and they are good players.’
With questions over Andre Onana’s future, a possible addition at wing-back, midfield reinforcements and more firepower up top, there is a strong case for more sweeping changes at the club this summer with Amorim eager to build a side that best suits his system.
Giggs agrees with fans who suggest as many as 10 new faces are needed at the club in the long-term but insists it is up front where things are currently most bleak.
Having played in squads that often included as many as four top quality centre forwards including the likes of Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunner Solskjaer and Teddy Sheringham, the former Wales international believed United’s current situation is a ‘joke’.
‘We do need nine or 10 players but we are not going to get them in this transfer window,’ Giggs said.
‘Thats the dilemma. Does Ruben Amorim have enough time the get his kind of players in that might take a couple of transfer windows? We needs strikers. It is a joke Man United have only got one recognised striker, we have three or four in the past.
‘Not only three or four, three or four quality centre forwards. So if you do get an injury, you do get a loss of form, you’ve got another player coming in. And if they are both on form they are pushing each other, so it’s win-win. That’s going to take time. that’s modern football, you don’t get it.’
