Arsenal’s £50m target rejects Chelsea offer and wants Real Madrid transfer instead

The 20-year-old joined Bournemouth for an initial £12.8 million from Juventus last July and has made an impressive impact in his first season in the Premier League. Huijsen has attracted interest from several clubs ahead of the summer transfer window with Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all keeping tabs on the defender’s performances for Bournemouth. However, Marca report that Huijsen’s father has made it clear to Madrid that the Spanish club would be his first-choice destination in the summer transfer window. The report adds that Huijsen is willing to reject an offer he has already received from Chelsea and would be prepared to join Madrid even if they do not match rival proposals from Premier League teams. Madrid’s Club World Cup begins with their opening group game against Al-Hilal on June 18. They are also due to play Mexican side Pachuca and RB Salzburg in Group H. The summer transfer window will briefly open from June 1 to June 10 in order for clubs to sign new players before the tournament begins. Madrid are also keen to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in time for the start of the Club World Cup but would need to pay a fee to Liverpool as the right-back’s contract expires on June 30. Alexander-Arnold has already agreed to join Madrid on a free transfer once he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season. Huijsen is one of the top names on Madrid’s centre-back shortlist but the Spanish club are also considering Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate and Piero Hincapie, who has played under Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen. At left-back, Madrid are considering former Manchester United defender Alvaro Carreras, who joined Benfica for €6m (£5.1m) last summer, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, and AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez.
