“Ferrari” producer Andrea Iervolino is reportedly spearheading a big-budget biopic about current U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
Unlike Ali Abassi’s recent indie film “The Apprentice” which focused on a specific period in Trump’s life, this would span the entire life of the American business magnate and TV star turned right-wing politician elected to the highest office twice.
Iervolino reportedly will present the project to potential collaborators at the Cannes market, with filming able to begin by late 2025 in the United States.
The project reportedly carries a $100 million budget, and no casting decisions have yet been locked. It is also said to take a “kinder” approach to Trump than “The Apprentice” did. Iervolino says of his film in a statement:
“Whether one agrees or disagrees with his politics, there’s no denying Donald Trump’s impact on the modern era. As a producer, I’m interested in exploring the deeper story of the man – the rise, the challenges, the resilience. Our goal is to deliver a film that is bold, balanced, and artistically ambitious.”
Iervolino has produced several biopics to date including Michael Mann’s positively received “Ferrari” starring Adam Driver. He also produced the very poorly received Frank Grillo-led “Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend” and Andrea Bocelli biopic “The Music of Silence,” scoring 6% and 0% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
Coming up he has “Maserati: The Brothers” and the Al Pacino-led “Captivated” which marks the third recent take on the John Paul Getty III kidnapping case following Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World” and Danny Boyle’s “Trust” mini-series.
