However, Unai Emery confirmed before kick-off that Rashford missed the game due to injury. When asked about Rashford’s injury after Villa’s 3-0 defeat at Wembley, Emery said: ‘He’s injured. It’s his hamstring. ‘We are going to try to test him each match but he’s injured and probably some weeks he won’t be available.’ Villa have four Premier League games remaining in their fight to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. Emery’s side host Fulham at Villa Park next Saturday before playing away to Bournemouth on May 10. Their final game at home this season is against Tottenham on May 18 before their campaign ends with a trip to Manchester United on May 25. Villa currently sit seventh in the Premier League but just three points behind fifth-placed Chelsea, who also have four games remaining. Rashford, meanwhile, faces an uncertain summer as Villa are yet to declare whether they will use the £40 million option to permanently sign him from United.
