Canada’s Marc-Andre Barriault is only a few days removed from his big win at home at UFC 315 yet he already has his next opponent lined up.
The Gatineau, Que., native will face Russian striking specialist Shara Magomedov at a UFC Fight Night event in Abu Dhabi on July 26, UFC president Dana White announced Tuesday.
Barriault had lost three fights in a row, including two straight by first-round knockout, before he picked up a 97-second knockout win over Brazil’s Bruno Silva in Montreal.
The 35-year-old Canadian had been on a 5-2 run in the UFC’s 185-pound division before that three-fight skid that began early last year in Toronto at UFC 297.
Meanwhile, Magomedov will be looking to bounce back from his first pro loss. The soon-to-be 31-year-old lost a three-round unanimous decision to Michael Page in February.
July’s UFC Abu Dhabi event is scheduled to be headlined by a middleweight clash between former champion Robert Whittaker and streaking contender Reinier de Ridder.
