‘Let’s try Google’ – Ryan Reynolds was left baffled by shock request from Wrexham player

Ryan Reynolds was left bemused when a Wrexham player called asking for the Hollywood star to rent him a car. Reynolds, who is co-owner of newly-promoted Championship side Wrexham, loves communicating with his players and helping them if they require something. Reynolds has helped to revive Wrexham as a football club and a cityGetty In a new interview, the millionaire actor detailed how he and his co-owner, Rob McElhenney, welcome players to the club. Reynolds told the Daily Star: “It’s a hard sport, man. It’s not too dissimilar to show business, there’s a lot of rejection. So when every player signs, we FaceTime them.  “We call them, we give them our info, we say if you need anything, call us. We’re here to help.  “That is our version of meddling with football as we don’t make football decisions. So there’s other things that we can do and we’re always trying to be proactive.” Reynolds added that he now loves football so much that he feels it in his veins, admitting that he has watched Sam Smith’s acrobatic finish against Charlton ‘maybe 50, 60, 70 times’. But one footballer did take the co-owner’s unconditional offer of support a little too far. Reynolds revealed: “One player did call to ask me to rent him a car once.  “I told him that when I said call me for anything, anything at all, I meant something like a kidney. I didn’t mean like, how do I get you a Hertz rental car? Let’s try Google next time.” Reynolds often builds bonds with players so deep that he hates saying goodbye to exiting stars. One player Reynolds most likely will not have to say farewell to is Paul Mullin, who seems set to remain at Wrexham – despite the striker losing his regular place in the squad this season. Parkinson labelled Mullin as a club legend and revealed he will be remaining at the clubGetty The striker was a key player as the Welsh club moved up the leagues as shown by his goal record of 110 in 172 games for the Red Dragons. But he struggled to adapt in League One and fell out of favour as manager Phil Parkinson opted for other forwards. Their club record £2million signing Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez have been the ones leading the line to push Wrexham into the Championship.  Wrexham were recently able to achieve a third successive promotion, finishing second in League One on 92 points. It is a remarkable feat – considering Reynolds and McElhenney took over the Welsh club in 2021. The two purchased the club for around £2million, now its value is believed to be closer to £100m and could soon rise to £150m.
