Haskell returns with The Power of Speech, a formidable Tech House release that underlines his masterful command of rhythm, groove, and sonic space. With a career spanning over a decade and releases on acclaimed labels like Toolroom, Love Juice, and Nervous, Haskell brings a seasoned touch to every detail of this track—making it an essential listen for both dancefloor devotees and discerning selectors.
Right from the outset, the rhythm section commands attention. The percussion is tightly woven and crisply engineered, creating a rolling momentum that locks the listener into a state of hypnotic focus. It’s the kind of groove that thrives in the tension between restraint and release, expertly crafted to maintain energy without ever becoming overwhelming.
Beneath the surface, the bassline is pure drive: deep, punchy, and slightly gritty, it anchors the groove while leaving enough space for the track to breathe. There’s a raw, almost analog texture to it, suggesting Haskell’s affinity for classic hardware or at least a deep understanding of its aesthetic.
The synth work is minimal yet memorable—squelchy stabs and warped vocal snippets echo in and out, injecting character and a sense of narrative without disrupting the flow. It’s a clever use of sound design that gives The Power of Speech its distinct voice, quite literally.
Atmospherically, the track feels built for late nights and low ceilings. There’s an urban intensity to it—moody but kinetic, refined but primal. It’s easy to imagine this one pulsing through a warehouse in Berlin or on a sunset terrace in Ibiza.
We’re proud to host this high-quality release on our webzine. Haskell continues to prove why he’s a fixture on the global circuit, with music that moves bodies and minds alike.
