It Took Marvel Too Long To Acknowledge 'Ironheart,' and It Speaks to a Much Larger, More Troubling Trend
Despite ending Phase 5, the Black Panther spinoff, Ironheart, received little promotion from Marvel, echoing a problematic trend for POC-led projects.
Ironheartdropped its first trailer today, highlighting the struggles of girl genius Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) as she balances her academic career at MIT with a potentially budding criminal career working for the mysterious Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos). It's a setup that's ripe with potential, especially considering that Robbins is the demonically-powered crime lord known as the Hood; on top of that, Ironheart is produced by Ryan Coogler, who included Riri in a major capacity in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
