“Friendship” & “The Friend” Get Trailers

Two films about different kinds of friends have released trailers today. First up, A24 has released the first trailer for writer/director Andrew DeYoung’s comedy “Friendship” starring Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson.

Robinson plays, a suburban dad whose life takes an unexpected turn when he befriends his enigmatic new neighbor (Rudd). Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra, and Billy Bryk co-stars in the film which premiered at Toronto last year to very good reviews.

Meanwhile Bleecker Street has premiered the first trailer for “The Friend” starring Bill Murray and Naomi Watts.

David Siegel and Scott McGehee (“The Deep End,” “Bee Season”) direct this adaptation of the bestselling novel with Watts playing Iris, a woman who finds her comfortable New York life upended when her friend and mentor Walter (Murray) bequeaths her his Great Dane, Apollo.

Sarah Pidgeon, Carla Gugino, Constance Wu, Noma Dumezweni, Ann Dowd, Felix Solis, Owen Teague, and Bing co-star in the film

“Friendship” opens in cinemas in May. “The Friend” will be released exclusively in New York City theaters on March 28th before expanding nationwide on April 4th.
