What arguments can a developer make to management that he could be Product Owner for his Scrum team?

I know, as a former scrummaster and a developer that I need a Product Owner to prioritize the backlog, I have not had a proper Product Owner for going on two years and my backlog of work is being prioritized by a Technical Architect and the Scrum Master. As a member of the development team, I think I could do a better job prioritizing the backlog in line with the Scrum framework. What arguments can I make to management to let them take a chance on me (a senior software engineer in the same role for the last 10 years with 20 years of development experience) to let me do PO work in addition to my regular development?
